Dr Madhav Dhodapkar is a physician-scientist and Professor of Hematology/Oncology at Emory University. Currently, he also serves as the director of the Center for Cancer Immunology at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory. Dr Dhodapkar has been involved in the care of myeloma patients for over 25 years, and his laboratory studies how the immune system interacts with tumor cells. The laboratory utilizes diverse immunologic and genetic tools, along with studies of mouse models and patient specimens to develop new immune-based approaches to prevent or treat multiple myeloma. The lab is co-led with Dr Kavita Dhodapkar, who is a pediatric oncologist. The Dhodapkar laboratory also interacts closely with other physicians and researchers in the Emory myeloma program and other myeloma research labs throughout the world.
