Meletios A. Dimopoulos, MD is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Clinical Therapeutics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, School of Medicine in Athens, Greece. He has authored more than 1,060 publications and sits on several editorial boards. In addition to serving on multiple boards and committees, many may not know about his passion for fishing.
Instead of using a net or rod, Dr. Dimopoulos chooses a more traditional method to catch his haul: spearfishing. Described by Homer, Oppian, Polybius and other classical writers, spearfishing has a long tradition in Greece which continues to the modern day. When his schedule allows, Dr. Dimopoulos brings his trident to the sea and spends the day fishing.
